Dog Training; in Manchester, Cheshire and Tameside with Dawe's Paws
Advanced Class
This class is open to any dog/bitch who has advanced from the intermediate class.
Group Recall with standard finish – This is where ALL dogs will sit and wait while ALL handlers walk to the end of the hall. Each handler will call their dog, the remainder must remain in the sit position until they are called.
Basic scent Discrimination – Three cones will be placed on the floor, during this time the dog will be outside (so as not to peek) a treat will be placed under one of the cones. The dog will identify the correct cone by laying down next to it.
Stand Stay off lead – Your ask you dog to stand and tell them to stay, you then walk a few paces away. Your dog should not move or lie down in this time and then you return to your dog. This will be done for 30 seconds.
Out of sight Down Stay– You place your dog in the down and tell them to stay, you then leave the room. Your dog should not move during this time. You will then return to your dog. This will be done for 2 minutes.
Stays with big distractions – Your dog will be commanded in either the sit/down stay and you will leave your dog. A dog will then walk round close to your dog alternatives are a trainer calling your dog, bouncing a ball ……
Off Lead Heelwork – This is where your dog walks by your side in a controlled manner, you will be expected to perform standard and about turns, your dog should be looking to you waiting for the next command.
Retrieve over a hurdle – Your dog will wait whilst you thrown an item over a hurdle, you will send your dog to jump the hurdle and bring the item back, your dog will sit in front of you and you will take the item, you will then perform a continental finish.
Emergency stop – You will not ask your dog for a wait, you will simply throw a treat / toy, when your dog goes to retrieve it you will tell them to leave and lie down, they will then remain in the down until you collect them.
Positions on the move – In heelwork you will command you dog to sit/down and wait, you will walk without your dog, when approaching your dog again you will command them to heel and carry on walking. There are many variations and options for this manoeuvre.
Tricks section – Your dog will perform 5 tricks in 30 seconds.Depending on time we may do more!
