Intermediate Class
This class is open to any dog/bitch who has advanced from the novice class.
Off Lead Recall with standard finish – This is where your dog sits and waits while you walk away. You then face your dog and call your dog towards you and ask them to sit in front of you. Your dog will then walk around the back of you and sit in the heel position.
Recall with continental finish – This is where your dog sits and waits while you walk away. You then face your dog and call your dog towards you and ask them to sit in front of you. Your dog will then walk to the left of you turn around and sit in the heel position.
Sit Stay off lead – Your ask you dog to sit and tell them to stay, you then walk a few paces away. Your dog should not move or lie down in this time and then you return to your dog. This will be done for 2 minute. Down Stay off lead – You place your dog in the down and tell them to stay, you then walk a few paces away. Your dog should not move during this time. You will then return to your dog. This will be done for 3 minutes.Stays with small distractions – Your dog will be commanded in either the sit/down stay and you will leave your dog. A dog will then walk round close to your dog alternatives are a trainer calling your dog, bouncing a ball ……
Begin Heelwork off Lead – This is where your dog walks by your side in a controlled manner e.g. no pulling by you or your dog, no jumping. They should also be looking and waiting for your next command.
Full Retrieve – Your dog will wait whilst you thrown an item, you will send your dog to bring the item back, your dog will sit in front of you and you will take the item. You will then perform a standard finish.
Distance control – This is where you will command your dog for a sit wait. You will leave your dog. You will call your dog and when they are half way they will sit/down/stand. You will then call them the rest of the way.
Positions on the move – In heelwork you will command you dog to sit/down and wait, you will walk without your dog, when approaching your dog again you will command them to heel and carry on walking. There are many variations and options for this manoeuvre.
Temptation Alley – You will place your dog at one end of the hall and command them to come to you, whilst walking past many tempting objects, they must leave ALL of these and come straight to you!
Greeting – Your dog will be commanded to go up to a stranger, sit nicely and wait for attention.Depending on time we may do more!
