Dog Training; in Manchester, Cheshire and Tameside with Dawe's Paws
Novice Class
This class is open to any dog/bitch who has not done obedience before or who has advanced from a puppy class.
Recall with finish – This is where your dog sits and waits while you walk away. You then face your dog and call your dog towards you and ask them to sit in front of you, the dog must then move around your body to end up on your left hand side, ready to work.
Recall to Heel – This is where your dog sit and waits, whilst you walk a few paces away. Facing away from your dog you then call them into a walking heal next to you.
Sit Stay on and off lead – Your ask you dog to sit and tell them to stay, you then walk a few paces away. Your dog should not move or lie down in this time and then you return to your dog. This will be done for 1 minute.
Down Stay on and off lead – You place your dog in the down and tell them to stay, you then walk a few paces away. Your dog should not move during this time. You will then return to your dog. This will be done for 1 minute.
Heelwork – This is where your dog walks by your side in a controlled manner e.g. no pulling by you or your dog, no jumping. They should also be looking and waiting for your next command.
Left and Right Turns – This is a 90° turn when doing heel work in the direction stated.
Left and Right About Turns – This is a 180° turn when doing heel work in the direction stated.
Leave – This is where your dog either lets go of something he already has or leaves something alone he was going to pick up/take.
Basic Retrieve – This is where your dog brings back something which you have thrown and gives it to you.
Door manners - When entering or exiting a room it can become a nice habit for your dog to wait patiently and not leave or enter until commanded to do so.
If we have time we will cover other things such as tricks, go to your bed etc...
