Puppy Socialisation
Socialising your pup from a young age is VITAL, but can be difficult to do before they have had all of their jabs, for a nominal fee of just £2 per class you can bring your pup along to any of my classes for as long as you wish, I advise that you don't put them on the floor until they are fully vaccinated, but they will at least be able to experience the sights sounds and excitement of meeting lots of other dogs in a safe environment. Give your pup the best start, just give me a call to let me know you are coming!
Puppy Class
This course is available to any puppy under the age of 6 months upon the start of the course. All dogs must be fully vaccinated.
Loose Lead Walking - This is where your dog will learn to walk by your side in a controlled manner e.g. no pulling by you or your dog, no excessive jumping. Bouncing is acceptable.
Sit – This is where your dog will learn sit upon hearing a cue.
Down – This is where your dog will lie on the floor with a verbal or visual cue
Puppy Recall – This is where you dog is on/off the lead and when you call comes to you. This can be done through a wait or by your puppy walking around the room.
Wait – In the puppy class this will be very short; 10 seconds. This is where your dog will sit and stay in the same position whilst you walk a few paces away.
Handling and Inspection – This is where you dog gets used to being touched etc by various people in a controlled manner – like going to the vets!
Identification – Making sure you have the correct ID in relation to the law.
Hide and Seek - You will hide in another room and recall your dog, the aim is to get your puppy to find you as quickly as possible!
Food manners – Taking food without snatching.
Leave – Taking toys etc away from your dog easily.
Watch - Gaining your dogs immediate attention with a simple cue
Follow Me - All dogs and handlers in the middle of the room, puppies to be in the sit position. On the trainers say you begin walking around the room with your puppy following, on the trainers second command you must drop your lead but puppy must continue following you! How interesting and exciting are you to your dog?
If we get time we will introduce some fun things like giving paw, speaking etc.
Don't forget to look at the information on puppy farms, choose a healthy happy puppy; DON'T buy from pet shops! Click here for more information
